Fire protection solutions for the Tissue industry

Many areas of a tissue mill are exposed to accumulation of dry, highly inflammable cellulose dust and fibre. The smallest outbreak of fire is extremely dangerous and can possibly spread through the entire mill. If you calculate the amount of hours your production is stopped due to fire related problems, you will most likely find that fire in general is costing you a lot of money!

With Firefly Tissue Solutions® we offer protection of both the tissue machine and the converting process. For more information, click on the drawings below:

Solutions Where Purpose How

WebScan™

WebScan™ is installed between the Doctor Blade and the reel-up of the mother roll.

To continuously scan the tissue web prior to reel-up to ensure that no hot particles can be transferred into the mother roll. Early stage detection of fire-related problems in or around the Yankee Hood.

By using extremely fast IR-sensors above the tissue web, WebScanTM is able to pinpoint possible ignition sources. In the case of an indication, the contaminated mother roll should be put in quarantine.

Doctor Blade & Yankee Hood Guard

Around the Doctor Blade and Yankee dryer.

To detect and extinguish flames within seconds around the dry section of the Yankee.

Using optical flame detectors that can detect small flames at an early stage, over a large area and activate fast water mist extinguishing.

Log Saw Guard

In the Log Saw enclosure.

To detect and extinguish flames within seconds in the Log Saw enclosure.

Using optical UV/IR fire sensors that can detect small flames at an early stage, over a large area and activate fast water mist extinguishing.

Dust extraction protection

In the extraction system.

To detect and extinguish ignition sources in ducts and avoid dust filter fires and explosions.

Using extremely fast IR sensors that can detect sparks and hot particles and eliminate them before they reach the filter. Extinguish with water, isolation and CO2, or diverting the air flow.
