Products for the Paper Industry

Firefly generally uses the following products in a system designed for the Paper industry:

DETECTION

EXTINGUISHING

CONTROL

Glow Detector (GD)

Firefly detection

The GD 400 detector can be used for monitoring pneumatic conveyer systems and chutes. For protection of risk zones where material occurs in dust clouds, e.g. filters. This detector recognises sparks, hot particles and flames from 400°C (752°F).

Water Spray nozzle

Firefly water spray extinguishing

Water nozzle of full cone type. This nozzles capacity is 90 litres/minute and it has a 110° spraying angle at 6 bar.

Control Unit (CUE)

Firefly control unit

Each protection zone is controlled by a control unit type CUE. The CUE has a self-diagnostic function, battery backup, flexibility and is user friendly.

Trend Detector (TD)

Firefly detection

The TD 250 detector can be used for monitoring pneumatic conveyer systems and chutes. For protection of risk zones where material occurs in layers (e.g. storage silos) and also where material has fairly low ignition temperature. This detector recognises sparks, hot particles and flames from 250°C (482°F).

Water Mist nozzle

Firefly water mist extinguishing

This water nozzle sprays fine water particles. Its capacity is 9 or 10 litres/minute and it has a 180° spraying angle at 6 bar.

Open Area Detector (OAD)

Firefly detection

The OAD detector detects flames in open areas. By combining ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) wavelengths, this detector will efficiently recognise flames. At the same time, other energy sources such as lamps, sunlight or even arc welding are discriminated.

CO2

Carbon dioxide as an extinguishing method is efficient, especially for enclosed volumes. The CO2 will displace the oxygen and thereby suffocate the fire. The CO2 is contained in bottles and is released by a solenoid valve.

Isolation Valve (GIV)

Firefly isolation valve

The Firefly isolation valve type GIV has a guillotine design and is intended for installation on pneumatic transport systems. The valve is available in different dimensions up to Ø600 mm. The GIV valve is often used for lean phase processes.
