Wood pellets are increasingly gaining importance as an alternative energy source for heating and power generation because of reduced environmental impacts. Wood pellets are produced from the by-products of wood processing industries such as wood shavings, sawdust and bark.

The use of wood pellets is increasing particularly in Scandinavia, Germany, Austria and the UK. Unlike other processes, relatively low ignition temperatures exist in the wood pellet industry. As a consequence, the risk for fires and dust explosions at pellet plants is common.

Firefly uses data from the U.S. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to determine the ignition point relevant for your process. We then design a protection system appropriate to the risk and your specific process.
